Overview
Registered Nurse (RN) - CVT Stepdown - Maryview Medical Center at Bon Secours Mercy Health. Responsibilities- Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment, and evaluates treatment effectiveness
- Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and organizational policies and procedures
- Serves as point of contact for patients care coordination throughout hospital departments
- Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department
- Serves as patient advocate in collaboration with spiritual care, palliative care, and ethics
- Serves as a point of care with care coordination and family members or caregivers
- Clinically manages patients with multi-system organ failure and/or multisystem trauma
- Uses the AACN Synergy Model to restore, support, promote, rehabilitate, or palliate to maintain physiologic, psychologic, and psychosocial stability across the lifespan
- Synthesizes and prioritizes information to take immediate, evidence-based, patient-focused action with clinical judgement
- Anticipates and responds to rapidly changing patient conditions and adapts accordingly
- Addresses the unique needs of patients and families coping with illness or injury, advocating for quality of life
- Practices in accordance with the Bon Secours Mercy Health Nursing Professional Practice Model
- Licensing/Certification
Current RN license in the state of work or covered by compact (required) - BLS or ACLS (preferred at hire; ACLS required within 6 months of hire)
- CCR N, PCCN, NIH Stroke Certification (preferred)
- Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)
- Work Experience
1 year of RN experience (required); 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred)
- Training
EPIC EHR training (preferred);
Critical Care Course (preferred)
- Skills
Ability to assign patient care, educate staff, evidence-based practice, comprehensive patient assessment, care planning, safety advocacy, collaboration, communication, cultural competence, crisis management, chest tube care, hemodynamic monitoring, pacing, conscious sedation, and advanced respiratory modalities.
Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads; possible exposure to physical altercations, verbal abuse, and the need for restraints; exposure to high noise and bright lights; exposure to hazardous substances or body fluids; potential exposure to human blood and other infectious materials; universal precautions required.
Physical RequirementsMixed lifting and carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping/kneeling, crawling, climbing, balance, bending, sitting, walking, and standing across varying percentages; multiple body and sensory demands required (see original for detailed percentages).
Patient PopulationCare for adults (18-64) and geriatrics (65+); knowledge of growth and development and ability to assess patient data reflective of age-specific needs.
