Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a skilled ICU RN with at least 2 years of recent ICU experience, a VA or compact RN license, and required certifications including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
Responsibilities- Work in a 17-bed ICU within a hospital setting
- Care for patients with multiple comorbidities, sepsis, renal failure, and COPD/HF
- Utilize pressors, sedation, paralytics, CRRT, minimally invasive cardiac output monitoring, ventilators, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen devices
- Tasks include managing chest tubes, JP drains, pericardial drains, and advanced life support modalities
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday required
- Agency staff may float to similar or lower acuity units and between hospitals/facilities as needed
- Support staff include PCTs on some shifts and a charge nurse
- Dysrhythmia exam required at orientation (study guide provided)
- Responsibilities include patient assessment, implementing care plans, hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team
- Opportunity to work with multiple advanced critical care therapies such as CRRT, IABP, Impella, and ECMO
- Must be adaptable to rapidly changing patient conditions and able to synthesize and prioritize clinical information for patient-focused action
- Holiday and every other weekend coverage is required
- First time travelers may apply but previous experience is preferred
- Scrub color or dress code not specified
- Active VA or compact RN license
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications
- Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
- Previous travel nurse experience preferred
- Must pass EKG/Dysrhythmia exam during orientation
- No local candidates within a 50-mile radius accepted
