Laboratory Technician I – Entry Level, Full‑time, Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Portsmouth, NH (or commutable distance).

Job Description

The Laboratory Technician I supports laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies. This is an entry‑level position; a college degree is not required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities – Sample Receiving

• Prepare samples from processing.
• Accept and sign for deliveries.
• Assist in unloading shipments from delivery truck.
• Open coolers and inspect contents of shipments; check documentation to ensure all samples are accounted for.
• Distribute samples in different departments as appropriate.
• Follow strict safety and quality control procedures.
• Store, restock, and shelve samples as necessary.
• Ensure that work area is clean and organized.
• Enter records in LIMS system.
• Demonstrate and promote the company vision.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
• Apply GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate.
• Perform routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs, including:
• Retrieve samples from Sample Control for analysis.
• Prepare samples using standard techniques.
• Perform chemical analysis using standard techniques.
• Calculate data.
• Record and report data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance.
• Perform job functions in compliance with Eurofins environmental health safety and quality assurance standards.
• Maintain general housekeeping in the work area.
• Work under close supervision using routine and standard methods.
• Aliquot and weigh samples.
• Wash glassware.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities – Lab Technician

• Perform microbiology analysis by Idexx methods, which may include but are not limited to:
• Handle and process samples following aseptic procedures.
• Prepare reagents and media.
• Prepare dilutions.
• Record and track incubation times.
• Resolve discrepancies and anomalies to ensure samples are properly labeled.
• Prepare general laboratory paperwork such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and laboratory logbooks.
• Wash laboratory glassware to prepare for next day’s samples.
• Stock laboratory supplies.
• Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Clean work area(s) to maintain a safe working environment.
• Assist other laboratory areas as needed.
