Facilities Industrial Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Industrial Mechanic to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of facility industrial systems such as mechanical, plumbing, and more.

• Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of all facility industrial mechanical systems, including motors, pumps, fans, valves, piping, and drainage systems.
• Conduct pipe fitting tasks such as valve replacement, plumbing, and backflow preventer maintenance.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures, dismantle and repair components, and install new systems as needed.
• Fabricate and install sheet metal components like guards, hoods, and spouts.
• Operate machine tools and hand tools for repairs and fabrication.
• Perform electric and gas welding, including brazing, soldering, and preheating in various positions.
• Read and work from blueprints, drawings, and verbal instructions to complete tasks accurately.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good condition and keep work areas clean and organized.
• Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, and complete safety training as required.
• Work comfortably in varied conditions including heights, confined spaces, and all weather; lift up to 65 lbs.
• Assist other trades and workers with all phases of facility maintenance.

• Mechanical & Industrial System Maintenance.
• Pipe fitting & Plumbing Expertise.
• Troubleshooting & Diagnostics of mechanical systems.
• Fabrication & Welding, Electrical, Wiring, Welding, Equipment operation, Equipment installation, Machine maintenance.

• High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Ideally at least 4 – 7 years of skilled facilities maintenance experience in plumbing, pipe fitting, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints/work orders.
• Ability to obtain a VDOT Security Clearance.
• Valid Virginia Driver’s License.

• Work is performed both inside and outside, subject to weather conditions.
• The role involves collaborating with a team of facility maintenance personnel to ensure all facility mechanical systems and equipment are maintained and functioning properly for tunnel infrastructure.
• The shift is from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portsmouth, VA.

The pay range for this position is $26.50 – $26.50/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Portsmouth, VA.
