Currently, STRATA has offices in Boise, Twin Falls, Idaho Falls, Post Falls, and Pocatello, Idaho. We have a Staff Engineer position open in our Post Falls, Idaho office.
PositionDescription
A Staff Engineer works closely with a Project Manager, Project Engineer or more experienced Staff Engineer and is responsible for the successful completion of project-related tasks such as:
- Performing geotechnical field work across the northwest U.S. which includes reviewing the scope of work, communicating with the client, and managing subcontractors.
- Completing test pit exploration and boring exploration; logging and classifying solids in the field and lab.
- Reading and interpreting geotechnical reports, safety procedures, field and lab testing procedures and project plans and specs.
- Interpreting data and incorporating subsurface conditions into project analyses and recommendations.
- Communicating accurately and in a timely manner, both written and verbally, with co-workers and other staff.
- Assisting in the preparation of deliverables and correspondence, including geotechnical analyses and calculations.
- Assisting in the development of proposals and reports.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Geology (emphasis in geotechnical engineering preferred).
- 0-3 years’ progressive experience in the field of geotechnical engineering or geology.
- Successful completion or progress towards the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and registration/certification as an Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) or Geologist‑In‑Training (GIT).
- Experience and familiarity with geotechnical software preferred.
- Proficiency using personal computer and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Adherence to STRATA’s drug and alcohol policy.
Candidates will be proactive, use a team approach to problem solving, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, operate a computer, and be client-service oriented. Candidates are expected to represent STRATA in a professional manner and aligned with our Core Values (Safety, Integrity, Respect, Professionalism, Accountability and Teamwork) at all times. Must be willing to travel to support remote project locations and work variable hours and overtime, as needed.
