The Bill of Materials (BOM) Specialist is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and accuracy of all product Bills of Materials within the Net Suite ERP system. This role serves as a critical link between Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Finance to ensure that product structures are accurate, up-to-date, and effectively support manufacturing operations and cost accounting. The ideal candidate will have meticulous attention to detail, a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, and hands‑on experience with Net Suite ERP.
Key ResponsibilitiesBOM Creation & Maintenance:
- Develop, enter, and maintain complex, multi‑level Bills of Materials in Net Suite based on engineering drawings, specifications, and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Ensure all new components are properly set up in Net Suite, including part numbers, descriptions, units of measure, and costs.
- Process and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) by updating BOMs, item records, and coordinating phase‑in/phase‑out dates for components.
- Conduct regular audits of BOMs to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with Production and Inventory teams to perform BOM validation against physical builds and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain data integrity for all item master data related to BOM components, including lead times, costs, and vendor information.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with Engineering to interpret new product designs and ensure manufacturability is reflected in the BOM structure.
- Partner with the Purchasing department to ensure components are sourced correctly and align with the BOM.
- Support the Finance and Accounting departments by providing accurate BOM data for product costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
- Assist in the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for BOM management and engineering change control.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for BOM and item master modules within Net Suite.
- Assist in troubleshooting BOM‑related issues in Net Suite that impact production orders, inventory transactions, and financial reporting.
- Participate in system upgrades and process enhancements related to Net Suite manufacturing modules.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a BOM, data management, or production control role within a manufacturing environment.
- Direct, hands‑on experience with an ERP system, specifically with item master setup and BOM creation/management, ideally Net Suite ERP.
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data manipulation).
- Experience with Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes and documentation.
- Understanding of manufacturing concepts such as MRP, work orders, and inventory control.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional team environment.
