MRI TECHNOLOGIST (PRN) - IMAGING

Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a team-oriented MRI Technologist to join our Imaging Team. This per-diem position will likely be one day a week, including weekends.
The MRI Technologist performs a variety of specialized tasks involved in the performance of MR scans. The technologist performs MR duties in compliance with Imaging Department and legal requirements, performs MR imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols, and ensures operation of MR equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements. The technologist follows the manufacturer's instructions, troubleshoots malfunctions, requests repairs, maintains equipment inventories, evaluates new equipment and techniques, and has thorough knowledge of MRI physics and principles, with an emphasis on continually learning new applications and developments as they become available.
Under the guidance and approval of the site radiologist, the technologist administers contrast agents according to site‑specific protocols and assists the radiologist with interventional MR procedures. The technologist gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment, and answering questions. The technologist prepares patients for MR procedures by positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into the specified position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
The technologist protects patients and employees by adhering to infection‑control policies and protocols, following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart. The technologist carefully screens all patients, patients' family members, and visitors entering the MRI scanning environment according to screening criteria and safety guidelines. The technologist maintains production and quality of MR images by following established standards and procedures and documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an approved two‑year Radiologic Technology program.
- MR registered, registry eligible, or actively documenting cases performed in order to apply, sit for and pass registry within 18 months of accepting the position.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment required.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing required.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines required.
- Demonstrated eligibility for employment in the United States.
- Willingness to participate in goal‑setting and educational activities for own growth and advancements.
- Demonstrated verbal communication skills in English and has Language Line accessibility for interacting with patients, callers, and coworkers.
