Position: Planner I

An excellent production planner is well‑versed in production procedures and ways to optimize them. They are organized, results‑driven, and possess strong problem‑solving, communication, and computer skills.

The goal is to ensure the smooth and cost‑efficient flow of our production operations.

Essential

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Use nesting software to create efficient layouts, reducing material scrap.
  • Implement effective nesting strategies to maximize material yields and flow.
  • Determine raw materials and material flow needed to cover production demand.
  • Partner with machine operators on the performance of programs and utilize feedback to improve program quality.
  • Follow established procedures to maintain plate steel inventory accuracy.
  • Release and communicate high priority service, warranty, or rework orders to respective departments.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production Scheduling, and Shear & Brake as needed to ensure details, specs, and schedules are properly understood.
  • Plan and prioritize operations in Epicor to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay.
  • Coordinate production workflow for one or multiple products in Epicor.
  • Update operations with new products and/or engineering revisions.
  • Perform other duties, assignments, and special projects as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office – specifically Excel.
  • Strong math and statistics skills.
  • Problem solving, decision making, and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High detail orientation.
  • Ability to multi‑task and adjust to changes in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems – Epicor preferred.
  • Knowledge of production planning and quality control principles.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively communicate challenges and concerns.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time (regular sitting and climbing stairs required).
  • Must be able to lift a maximum weight up to 50 lbs.
