Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly, assist with video gaming needs, inform guests about promotions and the trade-in program, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors during transactions, and thank guests. Circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
  • Support the shopping environment (visual and operational elements) and nurture guest relationships to drive sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases and returns accurately via the POS system with high service quality.
  • Address guest questions in person or by phone; answer calls promptly and professionally.
  • Promote Game Stop benefits such as new title reservations and the Pro Rewards loyalty program.
  • Keep store areas (including restrooms) clean, organized, and merchandised; ensure fixtures and equipment are in working order.
  • Complete Omni-Channel orders daily.
  • Safeguard assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices, including scam awareness and safety practices; perform bank deposits as required.
  • Conduct store inventory counts, stock/restock merchandise, and organize products on the floor and in the stock room.
  • Support management in achieving sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative and operational duties.
  • Count, balance, and reconcile daily POS transactions; ensure closeout paperwork and bank deposits are accurate; maintain sufficient cash and change; make daily bank deposits per guidelines.
  • Check shipments for discrepancies, record findings in the POS system, and report to management as needed.
  • Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls promptly with proper labeling and packing lists.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks in the absence of management.
  • Adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures as outlined in the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures and provide timely feedback on associate performance to store management.
Qualifications
  • Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to work alone, stand, and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.
Required job skills and abilities
  • Exceptional guest service skills and genuine, friendly assistance to every guest.
  • Clear verbal and written communication and active listening;
    English proficiency required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Meet performance expectations (attendance, professional dress, grooming).
  • Operate the POS system and complete required paperwork.
  • Basic math and alphabetical organization skills.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work as part of a team; strong problem-solving and judgment abilities.
  • Ability to follow instructions and deliver bank deposits following loss prevention safety guidelines.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability.
  • Remain effective under pressure and handle stress appropriately.
  • Physical ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb ladders, and lift up to 30 lbs from ground to 4 feet high; stand and move for up to 10 hours per day.
