Automotive Service Technician
Knudtsen Chevrolet – Post Falls, Idaho
Base pay range: $50,000 – $180,000 per year ($25–$50 per hour based on experience and proficiency).

An Automotive Service Technician is responsible for correctly and efficiently diagnosing and repairing vehicle components in accordance with factory and dealership specifications, ensuring that each completed vehicle meets or exceeds established quality and safety standards, thus providing excellent customer service and maintaining vehicle appearance.
Responsibilities- Diagnose cause of malfunction and perform work as outlined on the repair order, accurately documenting all work performed and recommended.
- Inspect assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended, which may include road tests.
- Clearly communicate with service advisor if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
- Connect with Parts Department to obtain needed parts and report status of parts to service advisor.
- Use approved repair techniques and materials to service each vehicle to pre-concern condition.
- Ensure appearance of customers’ vehicles is maintained or improved and notify service advisor of any change in appearance or condition.
- Report machinery defects or malfunctions and maintain all dealership-owned tools and manuals; operate all tools and equipment safely.
- Complete manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events as requested; keep up to date on technical bulletins.
- Able to perform day‑to‑day service activities in a technician environment.
- Previous experience as a general electrical, transmission, and/or diesel technician is preferred.
- Be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance and stand, sit, bend, and twist for extended periods of time on concrete.
- Have strong attention to detail and be organized.
- Self‑motivated team player able to communicate effectively and work well with other technicians and service advisors.
- Have a valid driver's license and able to drive both automatic and manual vehicles.
- Pass a motor vehicle report and possess a safe driving record.
- Pass a criminal background check and drug test; also subject to random drug testing at the company’s request.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment, and speak and listen both over the phone and in person to customers and fellow employees. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee occasionally works in a seated position, climbs or balances, and performs tasks involving taste or smell.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move 75–100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Team members regularly work 45–50 hours per week and are exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, electrical shock risk, vibration, wet or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, combustibles, and a loud noise environment.
