Job SummaryThe Assurance Experienced Senior will coordinate the full audit cycle, from planning and fieldwork to final financial statement preparation and client communication. The role requires strong GAAP knowledge, internal control assessment, and the ability to lead and mentor a small audit team.
Responsibilities- Lead day‑to‑day audit work, ensuring fieldwork is performed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with BDO audit policies and professional standards.
- Prepare financial statements with disclosures, applying GAAP principles and documenting the underlying accounting estimates.
- Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and communicate control deficiencies and recommendations to clients, management, and the audit engagement partner.
- Supervise and develop a small team of audit associates, providing written performance feedback, coaching on audit technique, and supporting their professional growth.
- Plan and execute Section 404 internal control audits, including control risk evaluation, test design, and overall risk assessment.
- Document audit findings, test results, and audit conclusions in clear, concise work papers and audited financial statements.
- Education – Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics (CPA certification preferred, additional Master’s degree in Accountancy a plus).
- Experience – Minimum three years of public‑accounting audit experience (or equivalent experience in private‑industry or consulting). Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
- Licenses/Certifications – Eligible to sit for the CPA exam upon starting employment and actively pursuing completion of the exams; CPA license preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities – Proficient with GAAP, SEC and PCAOB regulations, BDO audit manuals, and audit technology tools. Strong written and verbal communication, executive presence, and the ability to act as the primary client contact for audit engagements. Demonstrated audit leadership, including audit planning, fieldwork execution, and “wrap‑up” completion.
- Technical Proficiency – Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with audit assurance applications, research tools, and internal control testing software.
