We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic RVN to join our friendly multidisciplinary referral hospital providing the highest standard of nursing care for patients in the Theatre department of the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals.

As a theatre RVN you will work closely with our clinicians, residents, anaesthesia team, theatre assistants, sterilising technicians and students to provide a high standard of care for our patients. You will act as a circulating nurse to include managing surgical kit requirements, peri-operative imaging, record keeping and scrubbing into surgery to assist when required. You will also be involved in teaching and assessing veterinary students in theatre related skills.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to advance your clinical skills in addition to developing your teaching skills in a supportive environment.

The successful candidate will have strong experience of working in a hospital or referral setting. You will be required to supervise and train both veterinary and veterinary nursing students so experience of being a Clinical Supervisor would be advantageous.

This is a full time position working 35 hours per week with a share of weekends and some on-call duties. Weekends are Saturday and Sunday on-call only, with protected time back in lieu the following week. Part time working hours would be considered, please get in contact to discuss this further with us.

We offer a generous reward package and benefits including:

  • Competitive and attractive pension package
  • Generous 30 days annual leave (plus bank holidays + concessionary days)
  • Access to free in-house CPD and funded external CPD
  • A range of family friendly policies, including adoption, maternity and paternity pay and leave
  • Free membership to the newly built Fitness and Wellbeing Centre located on site (gym, badminton, climbing wall, Zumba, yoga and Pilates classes included)
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Free mini-bus service to and from Potters Bar station and Hawkshead Campus
