POSITION GOAL:
Plan and implement age‑appropriate lessons meeting the needs of individuals enrolled in the elementary grade level program and create a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, while establishing effective rapport with students; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed as a foundation to become lifelong learners; and establish positive relationships with parents, staff and community.
- Provide instruction based on district‑approved curriculum.
- Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans to meet individual student needs.
- Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians by means of conferences, notes, phone calls, e‑mail, digital communication and newsletters.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Identify pupil needs, make appropriate referrals, and participate in developing strategies for individual education plans.
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Plan and coordinate work of paraprofessionals, parents and volunteers in the classroom and on educational trips.
- Create a functional and organized environment for learning.
- Adhere to Pennsylvania Professional Code of Conduct.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Pennsylvania Elementary Teaching Certification (Music Pk–12).
- Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.
- Ability to express self clearly and concisely in oral and written communications; and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; to plan and implement lessons based on curriculum objectives and the needs and abilities of students.
- Well organized with good time management skills.
- Computer literate and competent with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
- Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.
- This position description does not express or imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the incumbent in this position. The employee will be required to perform any other position‑related duties as requested by the supervisor.
- For the remainder of the 2025–2026 School Year, 7 hours 30 minutes per day.
