• Accession specimens in a timely and accurate manner
• Prepare slides for transport with courier
• File and pull slides as requested
• Perform gross dissection/examination for select uncomplicated or wholly submitted or bisected skin specimens
• Perform microtomy on various tissue types, including very small biopsies
• Accurate and timely preparation and staining of histology specimens under routine and STAT conditions (frozen section, Mohs surgery)
• Ensure safe and non-traumatic specimen handling with emphasis on specimen quality
• Control contaminated or potentially dangerous specimens per accreditation requirements
• Prepare slides with attention to specimen quality for the intended test or examination
• Operate equipment per manufacturer instructions; maintain equipment and ensure adequate supplies
• Maintain accurate records for quality control, quality assurance, and patient data
• Assist with data entry of patient demographics into EMR/Billing systems
• Process pathology billing
• Sort and route incoming deliveries and mail to the appropriate contact
• Maintain laboratory logs
• Clean laboratory to limit cross-contamination
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary

• Must be able to work 2nd shift (3-11pm) Monday through Friday
• Bachelor's Degree in Biology is required
• Experience in tissue pathology is required
• Experienced histology technician is preferred but not required
• Computer literacy is required (EMR and LIS systems)
