OverviewCHOP is hiring for a Part‑Time Nurse Practitioner to work at the Collegeville and Sunnybrook locations. The Nurse Practitioner practices within their delineation of practice and under the guidelines of the Division of Ambulatory Care. In collaboration with the attending physician, the Nurse Practitioner provides health care management and support to well and sick children enrolled in the ambulatory care network.
The scope of responsibilities includes assessment, diagnosis, interventions, evaluation, and follow‑up. The Nurse Practitioner also participates in professional leadership activities including quality improvement, education, consultation to nursing staff, and scholarly activities.
- Monday: 8a–8p at Sunnybrook
- Tuesday: 8a–12p at Sunnybrook
- Wednesday: 8a–5p at Collegeville
- Rotational Saturday shifts: 8a–12p
- Refer to Delineation of Practice Document and Clinical Responsibilities checklist for specific clinical responsibilities.
- Perform assessment and diagnosis, including obtaining a complete health history, performing a physical exam, ordering and interpreting screening and laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures, making a diagnosis and formulating a family‑centered plan of care.
- Provide interventions such as treating health concerns, patient/family education, follow‑up care, consultation with other health professionals, and referrals; perform advanced procedures listed in the scope of practice document.
- Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of the prescribed treatment plan, using current evidence to modify the plan based on effectiveness and patient/family response.
- Participate in scholarly activities including research, publications, and education.
- Maintain required competencies, identify learning needs, and pursue appropriate educational offerings; act as preceptor and mentor to support development of nurses, nurse practitioners, students, and other health care providers.
- Demonstrate commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues, reporting errors, and supporting shared accountability for safe practices.
- Master's Degree in Nursing – required.
- Ability to work in an inter‑professional team setting with multiple responsibilities (required proficiency).
- Proficiency in using computers and electronic medical record systems (required proficiency).
- Computer competency: basic use of mouse, keyboard, printer, USB ports;
Microsoft Office; web browsing; shared network file space. - Use of patient‑facing technology (e.g., IV pumps, point‑of‑care devices, CR monitors) (required proficiency).
- Practice in information literacy: determining appropriate clinical information, accessing and evaluating sources, integrating information effectively into practice (required proficiency).
- Information management literacy: navigation of the electronic health record system, locating and reviewing patient data, using clinical decision support tools (required proficiency).
- Understanding of policies, procedures, confidentiality, security, and privacy regulations regarding the use of clinical information systems (required proficiency).
- Collection of clinical data using quality improvement tools (required proficiency).
- Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) – Pennsylvania State Licensing Board – required upon hire.
- Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP), Pennsylvania – Pennsylvania State Licensing Board – required upon hire.
- Registered Nurse (New Jersey) – New Jersey State Licensing Board – required upon hire.
- Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), New Jersey – New Jersey State Licensing Board – required upon hire.
- Prescriptive Authority – Pennsylvania State Licensing Board – required upon hire.
- Specialty Certification in area of education/subspecialty (Pediatric Primary Care, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Dual Acute/Primary Care Program) – required upon hire.
As a condition of employment, employees who work in patient‑care buildings or have patient‑facing responsibilities must receive an annual influenza vaccine.
Salary Range$ – $ annually (full‑time); part‑time pay will be adjusted accordingly. This job is eligible for an incentive program. Factors such as skills and experience may result in an offer above the salary range.
