$28–$38 an hour, Monday through Friday, no weekends. Full-time Class A Technician position in Poughkeepsie, NY, with paid vacation, paid holidays, and an IRA.
Since 2004, North Road Auto Tires & Service has been a trusted independent repair shop and authorized Goodyear tire dealer in Poughkeepsie. We’re a family-run team adding an experienced A-level technician to handle the mechanical work that keeps our bays busy: brakes, suspension, engine repair, maintenance, and everyday troubleshooting. We work on most makes and models, and Honda, Toyota, Subaru, and Nissan are the ones we see most.
We care about quality work and straight talk with our customers. If you’re a solid all-around mechanic who wants to grow your diagnostic skills, you’ll have real support and mentoring here.
- Perform thorough vehicle inspections and document needed maintenance and repairs.
- Diagnose and repair brakes, steering, suspension, and drivetrain systems.
- Complete engine mechanical repairs, including timing belts and chains, gaskets, and drive belts.
- Diagnose and service heating and A/C systems.
- Perform fluid services, tune-ups, and preventive maintenance.
- Use scan tools and service information to track down common drivability and electrical concerns, with backup from senior staff on the tough ones.
- Give service advisors clear findings so customers understand what their vehicle needs.
- Keep your bay clean and organized and follow all safety procedures.
- 3+ years working as an automotive technician in an independent shop or dealership.
- Your own professional tools and toolbox.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Strong mechanical skills, efficient work habits, and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working on your own and pitching in with the team.
- Preferred: wheel alignment experience (Hunter or equivalent), ASE certifications, or a NYS Inspector license. None of these are required for the right candidate.
- Monday–Friday schedule, 40 hours a week, no weekends
