We're looking for an experienced, concept‑driven Manager, Design & Marketing to join our team. This role is for someone who’s passionate about bold, high‑impact design and the specialty book market. This newly created position will be an extremely collaborative role, working closely with several different divisions. Reporting to the Art Director, the ideal candidate has a passion for books and experience designing for digital, social, and print applications.
What You’ll Do:- Campaign Visuals:
Work collaboratively with our marketing team to design digital ads, newsletter/email templates, and promotional graphics. - Brand Stewardship:
Maintain, evolve, and enforce brand guidelines, ensuring visual consistency across all customer touchpoints. - Product Photography:
Using prototypes and finished copies, stage and photograph materials for promotional graphics and our website. - Content & Social Media:
Design engaging organic content for social media platforms (Instagram, Tik Tok, You Tube), including static graphics, motion design, and video overlays. - Print collateral:
Produce high‑quality print materials when needed, such as merchandise and packaging. - Cross‑Functional
Collaboration:
Work alongside editorial, marketing, and the art department to brainstorm creative concepts and bring them from ideation to execution. - Asset Management:
Organize and maintain the team’s digital asset library, ensuring templates and design files are easily accessible and up to date. - Brainstorm and collaborate with all stakeholders on decisions related to the look and feel of a product (e.g. illustration style, typography choices, layout, covers, icons, infographics, etc.)
- Make design corrections, mockups, or typesetting changes, if needed
- Maintain promotional power point decks and internal database
- Design shipper boxes and packaging, preparing these files to a print‑ready standard
- Experience designing for digital, social, and print applications
- A strong portfolio demonstrating a versatile range of marketing assets for the book industry, including product styling/lighting
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Experience with Figma, After Effects, Premiere Pro and video editing software.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to interact effectively across internal teams
- Detail‑oriented, with the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organizational, problem‑solving and prioritization skills
- Knowledge of book design/production is a plus
- Digital illustration experience is a plus
- Knowledge of Airtable is a plus
- 2+ years of marketing design in trade publishing or DTC e‑commerce agency experience, with a focus on video‑first design
- Motion graphics or video editing skills (After Effects, Premiere Pro)
- Experience working with clients or external partners
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in graphic design or another related field, or equivalent work experience preferred
Salary range: $70,000-$75,000
FSLA status: Exempt
This position is classified as remote but is tied to our New York, NY office located at 120 Broadway. Employment is subject to New York State tax withholding under applicable regulations.
