Duties Description

Rockland Psychiatric Center (RPC) is recruiting Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists for outpatient clinics and ACT Teams. Outpatient clinics are located in Mount Vernon, White Plains, Peekskill, Putnam, Dutchess, Newburgh, and Middletown; ACT Teams are in Orange and Dutchess Counties.

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evaluations.
  • Create treatment plans including medication management and psychotherapy.
  • Manage caseloads of 8–15 patients daily.
  • Testify in court hearings for Assisted Outpatient Treatment and orders of Conditions for Insanity Acquitants.
Minimum Qualifications
  • License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) for Psychiatrist 1; or certification in psychiatry approved by ABPN for Psychiatrist 2.
  • Candidates from outside or within State Service considered under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they meet the licensing and certification requirements.
  • Candidates from within State Service considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
  • Limited permit option:
    If licensed in another state or by written examination in Canada and meet other requirements, you must obtain a New York State medical license within one year of appointment.
  • Transfer Opportunity:
    Must have one year of permanent service as a Psychiatrist 1, Psychiatrist 2, or Psychiatrist (Children and Youth) to be eligible for lateral transfer.
