Reporting to:
Safety and Risk Manager
Assists with development and implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies and programs, ensures compliance with federal, state, local and company EHS requirements, supports safety initiatives, identifies unsafe work behavior, coaches employees, conducts investigations, audits, site assessments, supports claim management data collection.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Apply general industry best practices, safety rules and regulations: NYS DOH, OSHA, NFPA and related standards.
- Coach safe work behavior and maintain familiarity with and skills in developing preventive safety policies and protocols.
- Investigate accidents; initiate investigations, analyze information, determine root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Use online reporting databases, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other computer software; prepare reports and plan projects.
- Supervise and deploy projects applying industry-specific knowledge; analyze data and use it to enhance safety campaign educational materials.
- Conduct work site inspections and audits to identify potential risks and ensure regulatory and safety policy compliance.
- Monitor, repair, and install vehicle safety equipment (camera equipment and gateways). Training will be provided.
- Assist with Emergency Vehicle Training programs and similar activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or associate degree preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to drive long distances as required.
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications completed within 90 days of hire.
The employee is regularly required to use hands to feel or handle; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Frequently stand, walk, sit, climb, balance; step, stoop, kneel, crouch. Must be able to frequently lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment. All with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working EnvironmentThe employee works outdoors and indoors with occasional exposure to hazardous conditions and/or blood/body fluids. Respirator usage required (N95). May be exposed to fumes/odors; can work extended periods; endure temperature variations. Will work with others, have face-to-face contact, exposure to noise, operate mechanical and electrical equipment.
