Water Treatment Pilot Plant Operator
CDM Smith seeks a motivated, skilled, and dedicated drinking water professional to serve as a Water Treatment Pilot Plant Operator in the Mid‑Hudson Area (Catskills and Hudson Valley Region, New York State). The role is full‑time (or part‑time), with domestic and/or international travel as required.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate with and oversee subcontractor(s) during pilot system installation.
- Configure, operate, monitor, and maintain pilot‑scale water treatment systems to ensure proper functionality and efficiency.
- Perform regular testing and analysis of water‑quality parameters; adjust process parameters and make operational adjustments based on results.
- Prepare chemicals and manage inventory as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment performance, system operation, or water‑quality issues; conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs to keep operations smooth.
- Maintain accurate records of system operations, data, maintenance activities, and any incidents.
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and other team members to evaluate the performance of new water‑treatment technologies and processes.
- Ensure all safety protocols and environmental regulations are followed while operating the pilot plant.
- Assist in preparing reports, documentation, and presentations related to pilot plant operations and performance.
- Participate in training and continuous‑learning opportunities to stay updated on the latest water‑treatment technologies and industry trends.
- Bachelor's degree in Science or a related discipline.
- Five (5) years of related experience, or equivalent directly related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required (approximately 10% of time). Frequency depends on project demands.
- Intermediate knowledge of standard field protocols for the discipline.
- Intermediate knowledge of scientific methods and processes.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Intermediate knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing environmental review and project implementation.
Minimum: $77,854 Maximum: $128,502
