Nuvance Health operates a network of hospitals and outpatient sites across Connecticut and New York, including Danbury, New Milford, Norwalk, Sharon, Northern Dutchess, Putnam Hospital Center, and Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Performs patient care activities and non‑professional services, addressing the personal, physical and emotional needs of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients and families. Practice is consistent with Nursing Department policies and Medical Center administration.

• High school diploma or GED.
• AHA BLS provider certification within 90 days of hire.
• Minimum of three months experience as a PCT or current enrollment in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s nursing program.

• General knowledge of high school subject matter, basic medical procedures and terminology, and office equipment.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.

• Assist in delivery of patient care per scope of service and RN direction.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges and patient transport.
• Obtain and record vital signs and laboratory values; report abnormalities to RN promptly.
• Perform advanced skills such as oral suctioning, enemas, clean dressings, tube feeding set‑up, condom catheter insertion and post‑mortem care.
• Communicate effectively with the health‑care team, document on hospital forms, conduct shift reports and participate in walking rounds.
• Provide personalized care, identify special needs and document them on the rounding sheet.
• Utilize educational resources, attend in‑services and maintain unit competencies.
• Use equipment safely and cost‑effectively.
• Assist in code situations under Code Blue Team direction.
• Adhere to infection control and safety policies, using two identifiers for blood samples.
• Maintain cleanliness of patient areas, kitchen, nursing stations and storage spaces.
• Model REACH values (Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Compassion, Honor).
• Demonstrate reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Manual: significant manual skills, motor coordination and finger dexterity.
• Occupational risk present.
• Physical effort:
  Very heavy, up to 50 lbs. force.
• Physical environment:
  Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise and human waste.
