Clinical Laboratory Technologist

STATUS: Part-Time/Full Time, Non-exempt

REPORTS TO: Laboratory Supervisor

The Clinical Laboratory Technologist functions under the supervision and guidance of the Laboratory Supervisor and participates in the multidisciplinary process of delivering prompt and accurate diagnostic information to providers within established time frames.

• Processes patient samples as a bench technologist.
  • Processes a variety of clinical patient samples for Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and PCR testing.
• Reviews and integrates patient history with diagnostic results.
• Performs and documents all quality controls with corrective actions.
• Performs and documents preventative maintenance procedures.
• Operates and maintains laboratory diagnostic equipment and ensures equipment is functioning properly.
• Enters patient data into computer interface for integration into the electronic medical record and retrieves data from the system.
• Interprets complex data and communicates it effectively to providers and staff.
• Disposes and documents the use of hazardous waste appropriately.
• Organizes laboratory area including general cleaning and upkeep.
• Performs all safety inspections and ensures laboratory safety standard adherence.

• Current NYS Clinical Technologist license required.
• 1 to 3 years related experience
