Position
Registered Nurse – Med/Surg (Westchester Medical Center Health Network)
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough patient assessments, addressing pathophysiologic and psychosocial needs.
- Identify and prioritize key nursing diagnoses.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, including discharge planning.
- Adapt care plans in response to changing patient needs; evaluate and modify outcomes.
- Recognize and intervene in patient‑safety situations.
- Organize and prioritize work assignments based on acuity; demonstrate effective judgment.
- Document patient progress, interventions, and responses legibly and in a timely manner.
- Advocate for patient well‑being, respecting cultural, religious, and privacy preferences.
- Communicate patient data clearly, concisely, and promptly in written and verbal forms to multidisciplinary teams.
- Delegate and supervise patient care; serve as charge nurse per protocol.
- Assist nurse manager in performance appraisals; participate in unit‑based QI projects and lead unit‑specific clinical projects.
- Carry out professional development activities, upholding evidence‑based practice and professional standards.
- Assist with orientation and precepting of staff as needed.
- Administer medications safely, including preparation, monitoring, and documentation.
- Promote a culture of safety by fostering trust, participation, and collaboration among colleagues, identifying and reporting potential risks.
- Willing to float to other areas of the hospital.
- Graduate Nurse considered.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
- Current licensure in New York State as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Certified in Basic Life Support; additional specialty certifications as required.
- Experience with universal precautions and infection control, including use of PPE.
- Excellent customer‑service skills and effective written and verbal communication.
- Ability to form working relationships with hospital personnel at all levels, including the multidisciplinary team.
- Expect to contact human blood and other potentially infectious materials; must exercise universal precautions and adhere to infection‑control policies.
- Participate in evidence‑based practice, nursing research projects, and quality‑improvement initiatives.
- Assist with orientation and precepting of new staff; identify and pursue learning needs.
