** General Overview
** The Marine Navigation and Instrumentation Systems Engineer for Teledyne RD Instruments designs, develops and maintains complex systems for state-of-the-art marine instrumentation. Plans and builds systems infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software. Implements, modifies and designs information system. Monitors the performance of systems. Makes updates to systems related installation documentation. This role requires a strong understanding of marine environments, navigation and instrumentation technologies and systems integration.
** Essential Duties and Responsibilities
** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Designs and develops systems for marine navigation and instrumentation, including hardware and software components.
* Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
* Analyzes test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
* Conducts system testing and validation to ensure performance and reliability.
* Troubleshoots and resolves systems issues in a timely manner.
* Provides input to design approaches and architecture.
* Acts as technical reviewer of existing designs and system configurations.
* Evaluates, analyzes and makes recommendations on products, designs and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of products.
* Evaluates and integrates sensors into new and existing systems to meet customer requirements.
* Evaluates, analyzes and recommends cost improvement ideas through product, vendor and design changes.
* Prepares for and conducts design reviews and technical interactions with internal teams and external customers
* Provides technical support and training to customers and internal teams.
* Provides support to sales and marketing on product presentations and customer support.
* Performs technical analysis of competitive products.
* Works collaboratively with teams of highly skilled engineers from various disciplines such as electronics, software, firmware and mechanical engineering.
* Stays updated with the latest advancements in marine navigation, instrumentation and systems engineering.
