Job Summary
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer Analyst to join our Network & Product Engineering Team in Poway, California. Responsible for Network Infrastructure design, implementation, and support for UAV related systems.
Work with network architecture and lead engineers to develop new designs or modifications of existing systems as required to meet project goals. Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and anticipated results. Work is reviewed at milestones and licant must be self‑motivated and a self‑starter.
- Work with internal project team and customer team members to define network system design requirements.
- Analyze and modify system requirements as needed to support project outcome.
- Collaborate with functional groups such as Software Engineering, Configuration Management and Manufacturing personnel to facilitate project tasks completion.
- Work with lead engineers on sustaining engineering tasks that impact existing UAS assemblies and sub‑assemblies.
- Develop network configuration and provide technical networking support for production, development and implemented systems.
- Identify and troubleshoot system malfunctions and make corrections to network configurations to ensure efficient operation.
- Coordinate repair, replacement, or retirement of network infrastructure.
- Proactively identify, investigate, and propose resolutions to issues that could impact the network/server infrastructure utilized by customers to support mission operations.
- Document proposed, intermediate, and final network system design.
- Document Network Infrastructure implementation procedures.
- Assist lead engineers in producing documentation such as System Specifications and Production Test Procedures (PTP).
- Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience: at least six years with a bachelor’s, four years with a master’s or two years with a PhD; equivalent experience acceptable.
- Familiar with basic mechanical and electrical design concepts; knowledge of RETMA rack mountable equipment design and integration is a plus.
- Ability to organize, schedule and coordinate work phases determining the appropriate approach at task and project levels.
- Ability to understand, communicate and apply new concepts quickly.
- Intermediate level knowledge of Network Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies.
- Solid grasp of Network routing protocols: OSPF, BGP, RIP, EIGRP, ISIS, static routes, etc.
- Solid grasp of Ethernet technologies: STP, VLANs, Port‑Security, MACSEC, IGMP Snooping, BUM filters.
- Intermediate level knowledge of Network support tools:
Terminal Emulator, SFTP/FTP/TFTP clients, Wireshark, RFC
2544 compliant test sets, ICMP, Trace route, etc. - Hands‑on implementation and support of TCP/IP Network Infrastructure hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, media converters, NTP servers, and PC clients).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
