VP of Product Design & Development

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in industrial design, product design, engineering, design management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience in product design and development, particularly 8-12 years with a history of successfully launching products.
• Previous leadership or management experience, including team management, mentoring, and collaboration across functions.
• Robust understanding of design principles, product development processes, engineering limitations, manufacturing considerations, quality assurance, and project management.
• Exceptional communication and teamwork abilities.
• Strategic mindset with the capacity to integrate design vision with business and technical demands.
• Familiarity with relevant tools and software (e.g., CAD, design‑for‑manufacturing software).
• Capability to thrive in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment while adjusting to changing priorities.

• Experience in extractor and hard service floor cleaning equipment.
• Proven success in scaling design and development teams.
• Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, sourcing, or vendor management.
• Strong product management sensibility, considering market fit, cost, time‑to‑market, and competitive differentiation beyond mere design aesthetics.

Responsibilities:

• Define and manage the product design and development roadmap to align with our company’s strategic objectives.
• Oversee the complete product development lifecycle, including ideation, research, prototyping, design, engineering, testing, validation, and launch.
• Collaborate with teams in management, engineering, marketing, operations, and executive leadership to ensure smooth coordination and timely execution.
• Convert market research, user insights, competitive analysis, and business requirements into actionable product design and development strategies.
• Establish and uphold design and development standards, quality controls, and documentation processes.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, resources, and associated risks.
• Cultivate innovation and continuous enhancement by fostering creative thinking, implementing best practices, and keeping abreast of design and development trends.
• Advocate for user‑centric design, ensuring usability and product quality while balancing usability, manufacturability, costs, and business limitations.
• Report on key performance indicators related to product success, development speed, time to market, and quality metrics to upper management.

We are seeking a Director of Product Design & Development to guide the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch. In this role, you will lead a cross‑functional team of designers, engineers, and product managers, shaping our product strategy to align with business objectives and ensuring we deliver high‑quality products that meet market needs and user expectations. We offer a competitive salary between $100,000 and $110,000 annually, alongside benefits including 401(k), health and dental insurance, paid time off, and vision insurance.

This full‑time position is based in‑person, and you will be an integral part of a dynamic and innovative team.
