The BTC Technician I works under general supervision to assemble shock absorber assemblies, sub-assemblies, hose assemblies, and accessory kits. These are assembled to specifications in a manner which is consistent with the company’s quality and productivity standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Prepares work by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications and parts list, and gathering parts, tools and materials.
  • Assembles component parts to company specifications and customer expectations in a manner consistent with the company’s quality and productivity standards. Requires a sufficient understanding of the functional operation of the items assembled as well as the finished product.
  • Assembles shocks, sub-assemblies, or hose assemblies as directed according to approved drawings or other visual aids.
  • Some machine operation and use of hand/power tools such as pneumatic press, torque wrench, drill.
  • Operates a circular saw in cutting hose for hose assemblies according to blueprint specifications.
  • Cleans and prepares parts and sub-assemblies for assembly.
  • Recommends appropriate changes for process or quality improvements.
  • Performs visual and mechanical inspection of parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies for defects and other quality issues.
  • Brings quality issues to the attention of lead and/or supervisor for further direction.
  • Ensures all housekeeping activities are completed throughout the day. Helps maintain an orderly work area by returning tools and materials to storage areas.
  • Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance.
  • Ensures compliance and safety of all activities within the organization standards and policies.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications &

Experience:

  • Minimum 1-year related experience and/or training in a manufacturing or assembly line environment.
  • Able to measure in millimeters.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and machine operation.
  • Position is required to be able to lift up to 50 pounds, perform repetitious duties and walk or stand for long periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, diagrams, and other written instructions.
  • Proficient computer skills: typing, word processing, printing, etc.
  • Ability to navigate and utilize necessary software tools and programs such as SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic math, including working with decimals, and strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to work required overtime that can be substantial during peak customer production periods.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated successful employment track record, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and a strong personal desire to maintain a safe working environment.

Education:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Certificate from technical or vocational school desired.
