The Company is seeking a Material Control Coordinator Lead to join our team.

Job Summary

Under limited supervision, this position coordinates and tracks incoming materials through inspection, stockroom, and production. The role involves receiving, loading, unloading, counting, weighing, and conveying materials, as well as recording information and coordinating outbound shipments. The position is a 2nd Shift role, working from 2:30 pm to 12:00 am.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate receipt of incoming materials and check them against vendor shipping documents and purchase orders for accuracy.
  • Analyze and monitor inventory and work orders to ensure traceability of material and/or parts.
  • Coordinate with various departments to support material requirements.
  • Update and monitor daily movement of parts and provide information to appropriate personnel regarding back‑orders of critical scheduled material.
  • Deliver materials to designated production areas and engineering projects.
  • Review material requisitions issued to the stockroom to ensure proper allocation and that storage will not impact production.
  • Participate in physical inventory counts and prepare lists of obsolete and excess stock components based on usage reports.
  • Identify, report, and investigate inventory shortages, overages, or discrepancies on the shop floor.
  • Examine items received, verifying conformance to quality clauses and receiving procedures.
  • Communicate inventory and work order shortages to planning.
  • Coordinate with quality assurance and purchasing on the return of defective parts for repair or replacement.
  • Coordinate with safety on the processing and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Ensure the verification of shipping documents and ship goods as required.
  • Review the Material Requirements Planning report, inventory records, and bills of material to determine quantity and scheduling of deliveries.
  • Examine stock to identify parts requiring quality assurance approval and coordinate with quality control personnel.
  • Transfer vendor shipper paperwork upon receipt of goods or after appropriate approval of parts.
  • Provide direction and guidance to less experienced staff and oversee daily tasks of assigned personnel.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Additional Functions:
    Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with seven or more years of experience in shipping/receiving, materials control, or stockroom environment.
  • Thorough and detailed understanding of material control concepts and standards, with experience applying them using stockroom procedures and record‑keeping.
  • Customer‑focused with the ability to become certified in hazardous/radioactive material shipment and forklift driving.
  • Judgment in recognizing deviations from standard processes and the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills to interface at all levels and accurately document information.
  • Knowledge of computer operations relevant to the position.
  • Ability to work independently and lead in a team environment, including ability to work hours as required.
