Quality Engineer

Role: The Quality Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Poway.

Position Description:

Quality Engineer position supports all aspects of Printed Circuit Board manufacturing. Assist in the maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS), apply Quality Engineering theories, methods and techniques in the maintenance of quality assurance policies, procedures and methods.

You will be under the direction of the Sr. Quality Engineer and will be required to interact with customers and suppliers on quality-related issues to ensure customer satisfaction goals are met.

Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment. Analyze production and service limitations and recommend revision of specifications when indicated. Conduct training on QA/QC concepts and tools.

This position aids production, engineering and management personnel in the prevention, identification, analysis and resolution of internal and customer issues specific to Printed Circuit Board manufacturing. Ensures the quality system is maintained in accordance with ISO
9001, AS9100.

This position is highly visible. The highest standards of integrity must be upheld in order to be a model for all Work Centers. Customer confidence must be achieved and maintained. Decisions will be based upon the customers' expectations.

Problem solving will be varied and the ability to use previous experience, operational precedents and new ideas and practices to develop the best solutions will be paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

QUALITY CONTROL/QUALITY ANALYSIS

· Formulate quality procedures

· Conduct internal quality system audits

· Implement statistical techniques

· Conduct AS9102 First Article Inspection and Reports

· Plan and schedule Source Inspections

· Disposition of internal and Supplier caused nonconforming material

CUSTOMER/QUALITY INTERFACE

· Customer Quality interface for selected customers

· Ensure compliance with customer specifications

PLANT AND ENGINEERING SUPPORT

· Promote and train in SPC development

· Analyze in-process metrics and quality reporting

· Maintain defect tracking records

· Material Review Board authority

· Monitor ongoing quality status and conduct failure analysis

· Participate on the Quality Council

· Conduct and analyze quality surveys

· Develop Measurement Assurance System including Gage R & R

OTHER

· Understand and actively support the company’s Vision of Excellence and Values

· Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that creates positive working relationships with customers, clients, co-workers and managers.

· Perform related duties as assigned by Quality Manager.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS

· Effective oral and written communication skills

· Ability to solve multiple complex problems in an environment with a variety of technical and organizational constraints.

· Working knowledge of AS9100:2009 and ISO
9001:2008, Lead Auditor preferred.

· IPC-A-600 Acceptability of Printed Boards proficiency

· Working knowledge of manufacturing processes including Circuit Board fabrication
