Sales Representative, Outside Sales
Join Ferguson as an Outside Sales Representative – Geo Stormwater and help drive innovative solutions in Southern California.
About the RoleFerguson, a Fortune 500 company with 36,000 associates across 1,700 locations, is looking for a proven sales professional for a field‑based role supporting customers in Southern California. This salary‑plus‑commission position includes a fuel card, auto allowance, travel and expense card, company cell phone, and laptop.
Responsibilities- Partner with branch and sales associates to train, support and collaborate for customer satisfaction.
- Provide technical and job‑site support, including presentations, pre‑construction meetings, site visits, product demonstrations and installation guidance.
- Build and maintain relationships with contractors, subcontractors, engineers, local and state agencies, and developers.
- Provide monthly leadership reporting on market conditions, bid strategy, competitive information, wins, potential liabilities and commentary.
- Use CRM technology to manage territory and track sales activities such as calls, meetings, bids, orders, projects and contacts.
- Generate new sales leads through market research, website lead generation, pre‑bid meetings and industry associations.
- Communicate product updates and enhancements to customers and stakeholders to create value and solve problems.
- Meet or exceed sales goals by selling products and project solutions to existing and potential customers.
- Maintain working relationships with key vendors and monitor sales trends to refine inventory requirements and pricing strategy.
- Continuously improve sales skills, product knowledge, and technology tools to project a professional image.
- Increase industry awareness through attendance and participation in trade shows, conferences, meetings and presentations.
- Sales experience in Geosynthetics and Stormwater products preferred.
- Civil engineering background a plus.
- Resident of Southern California.
- Willingness to travel weekly across the territory.
- Strong adaptability and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and navigation of multiple software systems;
Salesforce and Power BI experience a plus. - Creative problem‑solver with a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently with strong prioritization skills.
This base salary plus commission role has no cap on earnings. Total compensation is estimated at $100,000 – $150,000+ based on performance and experience.
