Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Radiological Technologist to join the Radiology team at qathet General Hospital in Powell River, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Radiological Technologist with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Work in a computerized environment, produces diagnostic radiographs and conducts various diagnostic procedures, either independently or in collaboration with the Radiologist and/or other physician(s).
  • Apply best practice radiation safety principles to protect patients, staff and the general public and completes required documentation and administrative tasks.
  • Monitor the patient during the procedures including equipment performance and maintains cleanliness of examination room.
  • Maintain and advance own clinical competence by participating on committees/teams and approved research projects, as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience

  • Successful completion of a recognized Medical Radiography program.
  • Successful completion of the CAMRT certification exam in Radiological Technology and/or certified with The Order of Technologists in Medical Imaging, Radio-Oncology and Medical Electrophysiology of Quebec (OTIMROEPMQ) in Radiodiagnosis.
  • Eligible for membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists.
  • Knowledge & Abilities

  • Broad knowledge of applicable CAMRT standards of practice and clinical practice guidelines.
  • Broad knowledge of radiological technology theory and practices within a patient/family centred model of care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic radiographic and medical imaging equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform radiographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards. Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to the designated modality.
  • Demonstrated ability to use clinical practice documents organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic techniques.
    Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality. Basic knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PACS, Radiology Information Systems and electronic health records (. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and effectively deal with patients and their families, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff and staff of external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability in CPR techniques.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
