Job Summary

Come work as a Clinical Dietitian with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) on the Community Care Clinic team in Powell River, BC!

Within the context of a patient/client and family-centred framework and continuum-based care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision, values and policies of the organization, works in a team based environment and provides clinical dietetic services to patient care programs through the assessment, planning, implementing and outcome evaluation of nutritional goals and care plans. Collaborates with members of the health care team and participates in practice-based research projects.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
  • RA- A & C:

    Demonstrated competency in designing, compounding, dispensing and administering enteral nutrition (formerly know as Restricted Activity A and

    C). Although separate restricted activity declarations are no longer required under HPOA, these competencies remain essential and ongoing to this role. Applicants requiring competency development are strongly encouraged to disclose this information for appropriate support and mentorship upon hire.

  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business related purposes as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Broad knowledge of clinical dietetic theory and practice within a patient and family centred model of care.
  • Broad knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
  • Broad knowledge of enteral and parenteral nutrition.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care.
  • Broad knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess patient responses to care plan, and to respond appropriately.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with (both verbally and in writing), and to deal effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care professionals, patients and their families, and external agencies.
