The Position
The Support Worker provides front-line, direct support to shelter clients by assisting with daily living activities, responding to immediate needs, and promoting safety, dignity, and inclusion. Working collaboratively with Lift staff, the role contributes to a respectful, team-based environment by sharing information, supporting harm-reduction practices, and communicating safety concerns in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Job status: Full-time
Hours of Work: 8am-8pm and 8pm-8am (12 hour shifts)
Hourly wage: $29.76 - $31.64 per hour
* plus applicable shift premium
Reports to :
Housing Services Manager
Qualifications
High school completion required
1 Year Employment Experience
Knowledge of the Housing First model and harm reduction practices
Familiarity with mental health, addiction services, and community resources
Successful Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check required
Skills
Basic understanding of street culture
Reliable, responsive, and supportive team member
Demonstrates excellent communication and active listening skills
Demonstrates concise and ethical documenting skills
Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain client confidentiality
Demonstrates understanding of emergency response protocol
Ability to remain alert and perform tasks in a demanding environment
Ability to remain calm and responsive during crisis incident response
Contributes to a culturally safe environment
Working Condition and
Physical Requirements
12-hour night shifts in a temporary shelter environment
Attends to medical emergencies including overdoses, injuries, and mental health crises
Navigates stairs and uses cleaning products and equipment
Safely lifts up to 50lbs
Collaborates as part of a team with high expectations for accountability, inclusivity, and respect
