Community Engagement Specialist

The City of Powell is seeking a creative, motivated, and detail-oriented Community Engagement Specialist to join our team! This position plays a vital role in supporting the City’s communication and public engagement efforts through graphic design, photography, videography, and social media content creation. • Monday through Friday, flexible within normal business hours.
• Occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays required to support special events and community programs.
• $26.45 to $31.25 per hour (depending on experience)

• Create and design digital and print communication materials including graphics, brochures, flyers, banners, newsletters, and social media content.
• Capture high-quality photography and videography of City programs, events, facilities, and staff.
• Edit and produce videos for promotional, informational, and community-focused purposes.
• Support the City’s social media presence by creating content, drafting posts, scheduling updates, and monitoring engagement.
• Collaborate with the Director of Community Engagement to ensure consistent branding and messaging.
• Assist with updating and maintaining content on the City’s website.
• Work with City departments to promote initiatives, programs, events, and services.
• Support planning and execution of internal and external community engagement events.
• Monitor communication channels for trends, public feedback, and emerging issues.
• Maintain a digital library of photos, videos, templates, and graphic design assets.

• Associate’s degree in graphic design, digital media, communication, marketing, or a related field (bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Preferred 1–3 years of experience in graphic design, digital content creation, photography, videography, or social media management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency with graphic design and video editing software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools).
