Electrical Shift Technician role at Northwood
We are seeking a skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Technician or Engineer to join our well-established tissue paper manufacturing facility. This role is critical in implementing condition-based maintenance programs, maximizing the reliability and efficiency of our machinery and processes.
Shift Pattern4 on 4 off (7 repetitions), followed by an 18-day break. This consists of two days and two nights per rotation.
AboutThe Role
The essence of this role is electrical maintenance and fault finding, to basic mechanical PPM, CIL, troubleshooting.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities- Perform electrical maintenance on plant equipment, including motors, drives, and control panels.
- Use electrical and instrumentation expertise in fault finding and rectification on Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Plan, schedule, and perform preventive maintenance (PPMs) to minimize downtime, assisting with basic mechanical tasks such as replacing belts, bearings, seals, etc.
- Collaborate with on-site Mechanical team for major mechanical elements such as MIG/TIG welding.

- Electrical qualification (HNC/NVQ Level 3+ or equivalent) with strong instrumentation knowledge (preferably apprenticeship time served).
- Experience interrogating PLCs for fault finding, and basic condition monitoring.
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience with AC & DC variable speed drives.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and instrumentation diagrams.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to assist with mechanical repairs occasionally.
- Problem solving skills, remaining conducive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety standards and safe working practices.
