Sunday to Thursday, 10:00pm - 6:00am
The Opportunity
An established manufacturing and processing business is seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join its night shift operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in laser cutting, CNC machinery, or metal processing who is looking for a long-term role with the potential to secure a permanent position.
Working as part of a busy production team, you will be responsible for operating specialist laser cutting equipment, ensuring products are manufactured to precise customer specifications while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Main Duties
Set up and operate laser cutting equipment to process steel products in line with production requirements.
Interpret cutting schedules, technical instructions, and work orders to ensure accurate output.
Monitor machine performance and make adjustments where required to maintain quality standards.
Safely move materials throughout the facility using overhead lifting equipment and material handling vehicles where authorised.
Inspect finished products using measuring tools and gauges to verify dimensions and specifications.
Complete routine equipment inspections and report any faults or maintenance concerns.
Accurately record production data, stock movements, and quality control information.
Assist with material preparation and ensure production targets are achieved within scheduled deadlines.
Support inventory activities and maintain accurate stock records when required.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work area at all times.
Follow company procedures relating to health, safety, environmental standards, and quality assurance.
Work collaboratively with supervisors and colleagues to ensure smooth operation across the shift.
About You
We're looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
Previous experience operating laser cutting, CNC, or similar manufacturing machinery.
Experience with in a steel processing, manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
A strong commitment to health and safety best practices.
Good numerical skills and attention to detail.
The ability to read and work from production instructions and technical documentation.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
A positive attitude and willingness to contribute as part of a team.
Flexibility and reliability with a strong work ethic.
Desirable Skills
Overhead crane certification or practical crane operating experience.
FLT, Combi Lift, side loader, or other materials handling licences.
Experience carrying out quality inspections and dimensional checks.
