Overview
ANNUAL SALARY - DISPATCHER I $49,318 - $66,579
DISPATCHER II $58,590 - $79,096

Responsible for assisting police officers in effectively protecting lives and property of Prairie Village and Mission Hills residents. As such, provides a communication link between public, other agencies and police. Work involves performing duties with high degree of independence and proper judgment.
Responsibilities and Primary Duties/Functions- Receive all incoming police and 911 telephone calls; dispatch emergency services to location; provide radio services as required.
- Record data in CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) system.
- Complete various computer checks requested by officers and relay response information to requesting officer.
- Maintain appropriate records and logs.
- Enter, modify and remove warrants and wants in law enforcement computer system.
- Monitor station alarms.
- Utilize and maintain recording equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Some computer experience.
- One year of emergency radio dispatch preferred.
- No felony convictions. Felony arrests and misdemeanor convictions will be subject to review if involving drug/alcohol violations, assault/battery violations, or any crime involving moral turpitude violations.
- Successful completion of the Communications Training Officer Program, demonstrating a degree of proficiency compatible with standards set for position.
