Adjunct Faculty - Simulation Science, Gaming and Animation Program

Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking adjunct faculty to teach courses in the Simulation Science, Gaming and Animation (SSGA) program.

Program Overview

The SSGA degree aims to transform students into multidisciplinary designer‑developers capable of creating immersive experiences that address complex needs across various domains.

Available Positions
  • Simulation Scientist

    Teach “Introduction to the basic aspects of modeling and simulation.” Topics include statistical models, queuing theory, random variate generation, simulation languages, object‑oriented programming, graphic output with animation, design and analysis of experiments, and verification and validation of simulation models. A term project involving the simulation of an aviation or aerospace element may be assigned. Junior standing required.

  • Digital Illustration Instructor

    Teach SIM 115:
    Digital Illustration. Provide an overview of illustration and hands‑on application of foundational concepts and techniques. Students will learn traditional art principles and how to apply them using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Capture. Goals: demonstrate understanding of the underlying technology of 2D digital graphics and create original illustrations using industry‑standard software.

    • Understand different areas and roles in the field of digital illustration.
    • Use industry‑standard media technologies.
    • Apply traditional illustration concepts to digital image production.
    • Apply both vector and raster techniques.
    • Apply aesthetic concepts to image creation.
    • Develop intricate illustration with sophisticated techniques.
  • 3D Artist / Modeler

    Teach SIM 201:
    World Building, 3D Modeling and SIM 203:
    World Building, Mechanics. Focus on producing 3D assets for virtual environments. Pedagogical areas include polygon modeling, surface modeling, deformers, animation tools, UV applications, sculpting, procedural modeling, and mechanical rigging.

    • Define and describe various modeling techniques.
    • Explain appropriate application of different methods.
    • Demonstrate ability to use 3D asset creation software.
    • Model, sculpt, and create procedural tools for 3D assets.
    • Develop design sensibilities for animated content.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a related field.
  • Industry experience highly valued.
