Base Pay Range

$16.00/hr - $16.00/hr

Job Summary

Tutors provide academic support to Yavapai College students through one‑on‑one and small group sessions. Support may be offered in person or virtually. Tutors help students build confidence, improve understanding of course content, and develop effective study strategies and learning habits.

Pay Structure
  • $16/hour – For tutors with an associate degree or lower
  • $18/hour – For tutors with an associate degree or lower who are fluent in Spanish
  • $18/hour – For tutors with a bachelor's degree or higher
  • $20/hour – For tutors with a bachelor's degree or higher who are fluent in Spanish
  • $22/hour – For tutors who are qualified to support Yavapai College's upper‑division bachelor's courses (300‑level and above)
  • $24/hour – For tutors who are qualified to support Yavapai College's upper‑division bachelor's courses (300‑level and above) and are fluent in Spanish
Additional Compensation Opportunities
  • Tutors with a bachelor's degree or higher
  • Tutors fluent in Spanish
  • Tutors qualified to support Yavapai College's upper‑division bachelor's courses (300‑level and above)
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher with at least 12 academic credits completed
  • Grade of B or higher in the subject(s) to be tutored
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English
  • Proficiency with basic technology tools like Microsoft Office
Certification Requirements

All tutors are required to complete the CRLA Level 1 tutor certification through Yavapai College's Tutoring Services as part of their onboarding and ongoing employment unless they have already completed CRLA Level 1 elsewhere.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Previous tutoring experience or CRLA certification
  • Experience working with diverse student populations in a college setting
Essential Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear, frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
