Tutors provide academic support to Yavapai College students through one‑on‑one and small group sessions. Support may be offered in person or virtually. Tutors help students build confidence, improve understanding of course content, and develop effective study strategies and learning habits.

• $16/hour – for tutors with an associate degree or lower
• $18/hour – for tutors with an associate degree or lower who are fluent in Spanish
• $18/hour – for tutors with a bachelor’s degree or higher
• $20/hour – for tutors with a bachelor’s degree or higher who are fluent in Spanish
• $22/hour – for tutors qualified to support Yavapai College’s upper‑division bachelor’s courses (300‑level and above)
• $24/hour – for tutors qualified to support upper‑division courses (300‑level and above) who are fluent in Spanish

A higher pay rate is available for:

• Tutors with a bachelor’s degree or higher
• Tutors fluent in Spanish
• Tutors qualified to support upper‑division bachelor’s courses (300‑level and above)

To qualify, candidates must meet the following prerequisites:

• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher with at least 12 academic credits completed
• Grade of B or higher in the subject(s) to be tutored
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing effectively in English
• Proficiency with basic technology tools like Microsoft Office

All tutors are required to complete CRLA Level 1 tutor certification through Yavapai College’s Tutoring Services as part of their onboarding and ongoing employment unless they have already completed CRLA Level 1 elsewhere.

• Bachelor's degree or higher
• Fluency in English and Spanish
• Previous tutoring experience or CRLA certification
• Experience working with diverse student populations in a college setting

Regular attendance is required. The role requires:

• Regular sitting and talking or hearing
• Use of hands for finger, handle, or feel tasks
• Occasional standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms
• Frequent lifting or moving up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds
• Close vision and the ability to adjust focus

The work environment is generally quiet.
