OverviewThe Patient Service Representative will be responsible for greeting patients, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and assisting with administrative tasks to ensure a positive patient experience.
Responsibilities- Patient Check‑In and Check‑Out:
Greet patients in a courteous manner, verify demographic and insurance information, and assist with registration forms. - Appointment Scheduling:
Schedule patient appointments accurately, confirm appointments via phone, email, or text, and coordinate follow‑up appointments or referrals. - Insurance Verification and Authorization:
Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain pre‑authorizations for procedures and services. - Patient Communication:
Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, provide information on scheduling and practice policies, and relay messages to providers and staff. - Administrative Support:
Assist with filing, faxing, scanning, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the front desk and waiting area. Manage the clinic’s appointment calendar and maintain accurate EMR documentation. - Patient Care:
Assist with patient examinations, obtain vital signs, and prepare patients for procedures such as pelvic exams and ultrasounds. Provide education on women’s health topics and record basic laboratory test results.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or certification in healthcare administration preferred.
- 1–2 years of customer service or administrative experience in a healthcare or medical office setting.
- Excellent customer service skills and professional communication with patients, staff, and visitors.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficient in computer software, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and office equipment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification processes, and HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Compassionate and empathetic attitude toward patients and families.
