Job Description
A Surgical First Assistant is needed to support the Operating Room across multiple campuses, including occasional support in OB. This role requires flexibility, strong surgical skill, and a willingness to float and travel between sites throughout the day based on operational needs.
The CSFA will assist surgeons during a wide variety of procedures including orthopedic, general, urology, OB, vascular, and neuro/spine.
Responsibilities

• Provide intraoperative First Assist support to surgeons across multiple specialties.

• Prepare the operating room, instruments, and equipment as needed for assigned cases.

• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping.

• Maintain sterile technique and ensure adherence to surgical safety protocols.

• Handle surgical instruments and assist with procedures including wound exposure, retraction, hemostasis, and suturing.

• Support OB cases as required.

• Travel between campuses during the same shift as needed.

• Participate in high-volume on-call rotations, including weekday, weekend, and holiday call.

• Collaborate with charge nurses, OR staff, and multidisciplinary teams.

• Document case information in Cerner EMR.
Requirement

• Minimum 1 year experience as a Surgical First Assistant.

• CSFA Certification.

• BLS certification required.

• Experience supporting multi-specialty cases including ortho, general surgery, urology, OB, vascular, and neuro/spine.

• Ability to handle a fast-paced OR environment with diverse case types.

• Reliable transportation for traveling between campuses throughout the day.
