Safety Officer Part-Time

Overview

Guard, patrols and monitors premises to prevent theft, violence and infractions of rules, including vehicular parking, traffic control and maintenance of public order. Regular foot patrol of buildings, parking lots and surrounding property is required. This is a non-sworn uniformed position. Must be responsible with good judgment.

• Report any suspicious or criminal activity by phone to Campus Police
• Complete lock up of all buildings at assigned campus
• Report hazards or safety concerns observed
• Complete daily activity log
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Ability to work independently and adapt in a changing workplace
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
• Physical ability is essential
• Willingness to appreciate the differences in individuals
• Must successfully pass a polygraph test
• Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid Arizona driver’s license without record of suspension or revocation
• No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories
• Regular attendance is an essential job function

• Three or more years' experience dealing with the public
• Experience in crime prevention
• Familiar with the structure of a post-secondary educational institution
• Red Cross certified in CPR and AED
• Work experience in a community college/higher education environment

• Exercise judgment and make decisions as to the appropriate action under pressure in accordance with established rules, regulations, and policies

The work environment may involve exposure to emergency and disaster situations, potentially hostile environments, traffic conditions, inclement weather, and hazards associated with emergency driving and working near heavy vehicles and equipment.
