Job Description

Reports to the Director of Rehabilitation Services and/or the designated Site Leader. The role involves planning, providing, and coordinating direct patient care for a designated group of patients, maintaining the highest degree of quality care, and working collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members. The therapist may also oversee physical therapist assistants, rehabilitation technicians, and support staff, and may act as team leader in the absence of the primary therapist.

Responsibilities
  • Supervision of physical therapist assistants, rehabilitation technicians/support staff, students and volunteers in accordance with state practice act and regulatory guidelines.
  • Deliver care ethically and legally, ensuring safe, correct, and effective execution of tasks and procedures for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain documentation that is compliant with state standards; communicate clearly in written and verbal formats.
  • Preserve confidentiality and manage difficult or emotional customer situations with professionalism.
  • Adapt to changes in the work environment, manage personal priorities for the benefit of the team, and provide feedback for performance reviews.
  • Delegate work assignments appropriately and monitor delegated activities, providing recognition for results.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor, continually build knowledge and skills, and share expertise with colleagues.
  • Teach and support team members, encouraging skill enhancement and participation in new opportunities.
  • Plan with end‐to‐end objectives, prioritize effectively, allocate resources, and meet deadlines and productivity standards.
  • Communicate and coordinate with peers to ensure workflow during absences, complete paperwork with sufficient detail for coverage.
  • Provide patient/client care and assessment in accordance with practice standards and department policies.
  • Perform patient assessment, summarize clinical findings, and develop individualized plans of care with achievable goals.
  • Plan and coordinate discharge plans.
  • Deliver care according to physician orders and established plans, evaluating effectiveness and revising plans as needed.
  • Assess educational needs of patients, families, and caregivers, providing targeted education.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote optimal patient benefit.
  • Apply appropriate knowledge and techniques, modalities, and equipment to clinical settings.
  • Create a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff, implementing safety precautions and adhering to security standards.
  • Physically capable of moving/pushing up to 35 lb routinely and occasionally lifting/carrying/moving/pushing up to 100 lb.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed in the state of Idaho.
  • Graduated from an accredited Physical Therapy School; professional training program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, and percent calculations.
  • Reading, analyzing, and interpreting business and professional materials; writing reports and correspondence; presenting information effectively.
