Make safeguarding personal. Make partnership count. Safeguarding Business Manager – Lancashire Safeguarding Adults Board Role details:
  • Grade 10 (SCP 35-40: £46,142 - £51,356)
  • Hybrid working (40% office-based, County Hall, Preston)

People. Person. Pride.

We are looking for a confident, values-led Business Manager to join the Lancashire Safeguarding Business Unit (LSBU), with a dedicated focus on supporting the work of the Lancashire Safeguarding Adults Board (LSAB).

This is a role about People
: the adults whose safety, wellbeing and rights sit at the heart of safeguarding; the partners who work together across Lancashire; and the team you will lead and support to deliver high-quality partnership business. You will help the Board fulfil its statutory responsibilities, strengthen assurance and accountability, and support agencies to work together to protect adults with care and support needs from abuse, neglect and self-neglect.

Person: We are looking for someone who brings sound judgement, professional curiosity and the ability to build trusted relationships across complex multi-agency systems. You will be able to turn strategy into action, manage sensitive information with care, and keep the person at the centre of safeguarding practice.

Pride: This is an opportunity to take pride in work that makes a real difference. You will contribute to a partnership that promotes learning, challenge and improvement, helping adults in Lancashire to live safely, free from abuse and neglect.

In this role, you will bring the 3 Ps to life by:
  • Lead and manage the adults-focused business support function to ensure effective delivery of the LSAB workplan, strategic priorities and statutory duties.
  • Support the Senior Business Manager, Independent Chair and LSAB subgroup chairs to drive effective partnership governance, assurance and decision-making.
  • Coordinate Safeguarding Adult Reviews, learning activity and improvement planning, ensuring compliance with statutory guidance and local procedures.
  • Develop and monitor business plans, communication and engagement activity, and assurance arrangements that support continuous improvement in adult safeguarding practice.
  • Use data, intelligence, audit findings and the voice of adults with lived experience to identify themes, risks and opportunities to improve safeguarding outcomes.
The person we are looking for will have:
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work across senior multi-agency partnerships.
  • Line management experience in a safeguarding, adult social care, health, criminal justice or wider multi-agency environment.
  • Practical knowledge of adult safeguarding, Safeguarding Adult Reviews, Making Safeguarding Personal, policy development and implementation.

Given the sensitive and complex nature of adult safeguarding, the ability to manage confidential and distressing information with resilience, professionalism and sound judgement is essential.

You will be joining a partnership where people matter, where person-centred safeguarding is central to improvement, and where there is pride in the difference good governance, assurance and collaboration can make. The LSAB plays a vital role in holding partners to account, monitoring the effectiveness of local safeguarding arrangements, using data and intelligence to identify risk, and promoting learning across the system.
