The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager (SME) - Fire Systems to lead the successful delivery of fire detection, alarm, suppression, and life safety projects. Acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will oversee projects from initial planning through to completion, ensuring delivery is on time, within budget, and fully compliant with industry regulations and customer requirements.

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead and drive fire systems compliance across EWFM, ensuring all technical standards, policies, and work instructions are effectively implemented.
  • Manage and deliver fire-related projects from planning through to completion, ensuring quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Oversee the completion of Fire Risk Assessment actions, statutory compliance requirements, and third-party audit outcomes.
  • Carry out audits of active and passive fire systems in line with SFG
    20, British Standards, and company requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training and upskilling programmes to enhance fire safety knowledge, capability, and compliance across operational teams.
  • Monitor and audit the quality of work delivered by internal teams and specialist contractors, driving continuous improvement and best practice.
  • Design and implement compliance assurance programmes to identify risks, close performance gaps, and maintain statutory compliance.
  • Act as the key relationship manager for strategic fire compliance suppliers, ensuring high standards of service and performance.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and support to operational teams, stakeholders, and the helpdesk.
  • Support business growth through tender submissions, new contract mobilisation, and technical input into commercial opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Health & Safety Manager and SHEQ teams to identify, manage, and mitigate fire-related business risks.
  • Maintain and develop your own technical expertise, ensuring knowledge remains current with industry standards, legislation, and emerging best practices.
  • Be part of the on-call / out-of-hours escalation level 3.
What You’ll Bring :
  • Proven experience in fire compliance, building engineering services, and fire safety management, ideally across healthcare, education, and commercial environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of active and passive fire protection systems, fire risk assessments, and statutory compliance requirements.
  • A relevant qualification in Fire Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
  • Thorough understanding of fire safety legislation and standards, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, BS5839, BS5266, BS9999, SFG
    20, and CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Experience managing compliance across large and complex property portfolios.
  • Excellent organisational, information management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise and make sound decisions.
