Weekend Passenger Assistant

Weekend Passenger Assistant based at Preston Train Station provides essential support to travellers, ensuring a smooth and safe journey. This part‑time, temporary position offers £13.50 per hour for 15 hours weekly, working Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00am to 6:00pm. You will primarily assist passengers who have pre‑booked assistance, helping them navigate the station comfortably. The role also involves offering guidance, information, and reassurance to any traveller needing support.

Strong communication skills and a helpful, patient manner are key. An immediate start is available for the right candidate.

• Meeting and greeting customers who have pre‑booked assistance services
• Escorting and guiding passengers around the station and to the correct platforms
• Providing reassurance, support and information to customers throughout their journey
• Assisting members of the public with enquiries and directions
• Acting as a key point of contact for anyone requiring assistance within the station
• Using radios to communicate with colleagues and operational teams
• Updating and uploading information onto internal systems
• Delivering outstanding customer service at all times
• Managing multiple tasks in a busy and fast‑paced environment
• Going the extra mile to provide a positive customer experience

• Previous customer service experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A friendly, professional and approachable manner
• The ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritise tasks
• Confidence using computer systems and handheld radios
• A genuine passion for helping people
• Flexibility and reliability
• Comfortable being on your feet for the majority of the working day
