Are you passionate about reading and enjoy helping others? We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer focused and digitally confident individual to join our library teams.

As a Library Assistant, you'll support the delivery of a high‑quality library and information service.

• Assisting customers with accessing digital resources and information.
• Supporting in the planning and delivery of events (e.g. author events, class visits).
• Engaging with customers to promote reading for pleasure.

You will be appointed to a library base(s), but there will be an expectation that you will work at other libraries as required. Hours of work are listed against the available posts and are a set working pattern over two weeks, see attachment for rotas.

Our ideal person will be welcoming and friendly, have a love for reading and be passionate about sharing this. You will have excellent communication and digital skills, be able to work with a range of stakeholders and be able to deliver a customer focused service.

Part 1 – All shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment day. This will last about 1 hour and involve:

• A meeting with a manager
• Tour of the library and explanation of duties
• Work related short assessments

Assessment Date: 4th February – Lostock Hall Library

Part 2 – All applicants attending the assessment day will be invited for interview.

Interview Date: 11th February – Lostock Hall Library

Please note the salary quoted for this position is the full time equivalent. These positions are part time, therefore, the salary received will be paid on a pro‑rata basis.
