The Governing Body of St Leonard’s C of E Primary school are seeking to appoint a highly skilled, motivated and experienced teaching assistant to join our inspirational and dedicated team of staff. This role covers all duties as outlined in the TA 2B job description and primarily involves a 1:1 with a child with high needs. The position is term time only, part time and temporary initially until 31/8/2027, with potential for extension.
Responsibilities- Under the general supervision and direction of the teacher, plan and implement learning activities for individuals and groups.
- Build warm, nurturing relationships with children and set high expectations for learning, achievement, progress and behaviour.
- Support the personal, social and emotional needs of children, including those with EHCPs.
- Engage in the wider aspects of school life and work across KS2 (although the child may not be at this level).
- Support the school’s Christian ethos and values.
- Enthusiastic teaching assistant with a proven track record in a primary school setting, preferably with children with high needs.
- Motivated, patient, caring, considerate and committed to children’s wellbeing.
- Excellent communication skills; flexible and proactive in approach.
- Willing to engage in all aspects of school life.
- Grade A* – C at GCSE or O Levels/CSE in English & Maths (equivalent to A* – C GCSE) or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
- Paediatric First Aid certificate.
- Experience of working with children and ability to relate well to children.
- Experience of working with children with high needs and as a 1:1.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to relate well to parents/carers.
- Ability to supervise and assist pupils.
- Organisational skills.
- Knowledge of classroom roles and responsibilities.
