Teaching Assistant – Ribble Autism School
Ribble Autism School is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join our Education team now! We are looking for versatile, resilient, and committed Teaching Assistants who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support across all key stages. The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher, assisting the children with their work and supporting pupil behaviour while establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.

Located just south of Preston, Ribble Autism School is a new independent specialist school for boys and girls aged 4 to 11 years who have severe autism and severe learning difficulties, including behaviours that challenge and associated anxiety. The school offers a warm and welcoming environment where a positive education allows all pupils to experience success. Our ethos is based on the belief that a positive, supportive, and achieving culture is essential for creating an outstanding school that meets the needs of young people.
These pupils need an understanding environment in which to experience success, build self-belief and engage positively with learning.
- Support the class teacher and children across all key stages.
- Assist children with their work and support pupil behaviour.
- Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model.
- Communicate effectively with young people and team members.
- Maintain strong organisational skills to support classroom activities.
- Demonstrate caring, compassionate approach to students.
- Remain attentive and adaptable to varying tasks and individual needs.
- Resilience to work with children who have varying degrees of emotional & behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties.
- Be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with the Disclosure & Barring Service and at least two references covering the last three years.
